Projection Cellphone
Pico Projector
Texas Instruments, developed DLP projection technology and have recently designed a DLP Pico Projector which is small enough to fit into mobile phones, digital cameras, mp3 players and camcorders. The pico projector contains three lasers, a DLP chip and a power supply and measures approximately 38mm.

A mobile phone or similar device with integrated projection technology could beam DVD quality video onto a screen or wall.
The DLP Pico projector will enhance the viewing experience of many mobile devices which will provide smoother images and clear video motion with vibrant colours using Brilliant Colour technology.
Projection Phones
Projecting a large image from a mobile phone may be coming to your phone very soon. The main limitation with mobile phones and other handheld devices is the size of the viewable screen. With micro mobile projection technology you would have the ability to project large images and video onto a flat surface enabling you to share the contents of your mobile phone with others instantly.
Many of the mobile cell phone manufacturers are developing micros projectors or light projector lcd screens which will be able to project images, worksheets, calendars and movies onto a flat surface for easy viewing.
With almost everyone having a mobile phone and the demand for mobile digital media, the market for projection mobile phones will be huge.

3M is providing electronics manufacturers with miniature projection technology to use in mobile phones, digital cameras and other hand held digital media electronics. They have developed an ultra compact LED illuminated projection engine for use in virtually any personal hand held electronic device which can deliver a brilliant VGA resolution display.
The LCD mobile projector can project a 40 inch image or possibly larger with a crisp clear image quality from your mobile device. 3M in conjunction with the large electronics manufacturers are planning to launch products in the electronic consumer market this year with the micro projection technology. This projection technology is to be shown in the Advanced Display Technologies Zone at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES), in Las Vegas, January 2008.

Until now holographic images tend to be speckle and of low quality but with some breakthroughs in technology, a single custom made chip makes holograms display at a much higher quality than previously possible. The main difference with this holographic projection technology is that unlike conventional video projection it does not require a large bulky lens. For the time being, the focus is on 2D applications, in particular tiny personal projectors for business and home use. The illustration shows an artist's impression of a potential product - a personal video projector, which you could download movies to and then play anywhere, using a wall as the screen.
The development of 2D holographic projection for use in the mobile phone and digital camera market is coming soon, and with further research and advances in technology it may not be long before the focus is on 3D holographic projection.
Holgraphic Projection
Holographic 2D Projection
Holographic projection could be the new technology to be used to project data, images and video from your mobile phones, cell phone or other mobile device. Video projectors based on this holographic technology require very few components and therefore are ideal for use in hand held digital media electronics.

LCD Mobile Projection Phone
Mobile Phone Proejctor
This concept has a micro light projector which is integrated into the LCD display and projects the desktop to a large screen or flat wall. This projection mobile phone looks amazing and once the technology has been tested and the concept finalized it will not be long before we see these projection mobile phones in the shops.

One of the more recent developments in the mobile phone projection has come from the designer Stefano Casanova. This gorgeous looking concept mobile phone has a windows operating system and projects your mobile phone desktop onto a vertical flat service for viewing.

Motorola has announced plans to put tiny laser-based projectors into its mobile phone handsets.
The announcement from Motorola said
"By projecting content displayed on the device screen onto a wall, object or even a curved surface, mobile users could easily share Websites or multimedia applications such as movies, personal videos, mobile TV, photographs and presentations with friends or business colleagues" . They have signed a deal to use the 'Pico projector' from Microvision and this isn't just science fiction as the technology exists, and works. Business men and women would be able to project a PowerPoint presentation from their mobile phones and pda's onto a whiteboard or wall without having to lug a portable projector with them to sales meetings.

Projection Mobile Phone
Projecting a larger image such as full page websites onto a flat wall would seem very appealing considering the size of mobile phone screens today. Slideshows of your favorite pictures and home videos would look much better when projected against a large white screen where everybody could view them quite easily.
